Total Kenya Ltd celebrated the 2010 World Environmental Day by teaming up with Frigoken Kenya Ltd at Kirinyaga Technical Institute to plant indigenous trees at the Institute. Over 10,000 trees were planted by the Total employees and the community around around the institute.

Employees from Total and their families travelled from Nairobi to Kutus in Kirinyaga district to participate in this exercise. This campaign is part of the Total Eco Challenge programme whose aim is to protect the environment and increase the tree cover in Kenya. The Total Eco Challenge target for this year is 100 million trees and this will be achieved through partnership with other institutions, partners and communities.

This year alone, Total employees have participated in three tree planting activities and there are more planned in the course of the year.
